"Actually it's rather a matter of personal taste and not something that rich people do to make themselves feel more down to earth. I have noticed that in North America plywood is a bit frowned upon by woodworkers. Just about every tutorial there is out there on cabinet making shows you how to cover those "unsightly" edges with something more pleasing to the eye, like a strip of maple. Here, in New Zealand, plywood detailing is a rather strong part of the local vernacular. People often use plywood for kitchen cabinets in their holiday cabins and exposed plywood edge is seen and celebrate a lot.Oh, and it's not a new trend. At least not here. We've been using plywood for ages."
"Nay. Colour matching won't work. It's just too dependent on too many factors outside of anyone's control out in the field. Light, of course being the biggest one.I also don't see why we need another hand-held device. This thing will either have to do some image recognition on-board or upload the scanned image to some other service that will do that. This can be done on any modern phone.Still, it's a pretty well considered student project."
