"Extend some of the surface where the laptop sits so it touches as much as possible under it. I wonder if there is a soft material that could transfer heat so you don't scratch your laptop. I don't think u want ArticSilver (thermal paste)rubbing on your device like Bengay on joints ^^  but for the sake of numbers u should try and see if it makes a difference in temperature.It is an interesting experiment of material use, one word sculptural! good job.
