  • "Jonathan Ives is an average Industrial Designer, his work lacks vision and vitality. Designing without limits is very difficult and usually does not produce good work - the most creative solutions tend to happen within meaningful constraints.Apple's current phase reminds me of the time before Steve Jobs return to the company, at that time the accountants were running the company and Apple were simply churning out lots of variations on the Mac with no clear vision. Now Apple has Jonny and his big idea is to make luxury products that are beautifully over-engineered. Any Industrial Designer worth his salt can do that kind of thing - his designs are the kind that designers doodle when they are searching for inspiration. The Apple product line is in desperate need of rejuvenation and Ives and co are not capable of doing it. The only new product produced post Jobs is the bland looking but expensive i-watch. The other major change was the interface redesign which replaced skeuomorphism the a trendy new 'less is more' design language which was visually less intuitive, more illegible and less appealing.Apple desperately needs freshening but it's increasing clear that Steve anointed man is not up to the job."
