"Thanks Juan!Fortunately, we did not have to redo the papercord, as it was in fantastic original condition.  To clean the piece, we had to dust off the layer of barn soot, and then started with wood soap to get off the old grime, finished with a light coat of lemon oil.  It cleaned up pretty nicely!"
