  • "Believing that the manufacturers of these products do not consider how they are used is extremely naive, bordering on ignorant. I obviously can't speak for all FMCG companies but the company I work for consider the end user experience heavily throughout the product development process as well as the environmental impact of any packaging & product decisions that we make. Lets explore the specific case shown in the video to see if YOU have considered how that specific bottle will be used: It's a daily moisturising body lotion that is extremely slippy and will require multiple doses in order to dispense the full amount to apply it all over the body. Have you tried to use these packs with hands that are already slick with the moisturiser? There are significant UX issues if a person cannot hold the bottle without it slipping or dropping it. The pump is in place specifically to fix that core consumer issue that lasts for the entire life cycle of the pack. It has an added benefit of giving the user a very reliable way of controlling the dosage of the lotion.Product leftover only becomes an issue once the bottle is nearly empty. It is still an issue that needs to be solved and it's great to see a company come up with a solution for this very problem. But you'd be surprised how many times we have seen similar solutions fail to be adopted due to consumer habits and people being unwilling to alter their personal care behaviours. There is after all a reason why the pumps are used in the first place."
