"I recently heard on a science podcast that one of the tests for dementia is to draw a clock at a specific time. If a simple abstraction of lifelong knowledge cannot be done by a person with dementia, then what sense will they make out of the symbols on the cane? I think this might have potential for those with very mild dementia, but probably would not work for medium to severe cases. In those cases, people don't remember what they need to take with them (the cane) and it would soon be left behind."
"It's a very nice look, but I wonder about the inevitable growth inside the container. Mold and mildew are certain to flourish on clear walls. Maybe it needs an airstone and plecostomus."
"Seems like a great space saver. I don't care for the fact that you can't get inside without expanding it. You'd have to move it to an area that had enough space to expand it out just to get inside. Also, what happens if the battery dies?"
"Joel, I think in general you're correct that using only CNC leads to very limited quality furniture. However, there are some designers doing some really excellent and elegant work with a CNC as well. Scott at Housefish.com has been exploring the limits of his machine using higher end materials and adding sheet metal parts and innovative fasteners. He finishes each product by hand before flat packing it to the customer. His product are very well made and look great too, not just for CNC work."
"As a school project, my team had to design a bed for people with a disability, in our case - autism. Turns out that lack of outside stimuli was very helpful in getting autistic children to feel comfortable. Our design had more sound insulation, but wasn't so different. And for what it's worth, those who work nights might enjoy having an additional block from sunlight."
"Looks great, and I like the no bag concept. I feel like the handle idea isn't really fully formed. If I'm going to carry it, it should be comfortable in my hand. This form doesn't convey that. Also, where do your accessories go? At a minimum, you need a power cable to charge it even if the charger is integrated into the computer."
"Great idea! Simple design with safety features. I would love to see a more portable version that folds down to conserve space, or perhaps uses the empty space for other camp tools during storage."
"This: https://lumoshelmet.co/ seems to be the same idea, better executed. Clear delineation between signals, same accelerometer use for the brake light, and wireless remote for signals. The front light is likely less effective for seeing the road ahead, but it still offers high visibility to the drivers ahead of the rider."
