If you update an old concept you are trying to invoke the feelings for the past in something new using the equipment and knowledge available to  you atthe time.  The design style has nothing to do with the equipment used to product the concept. Mostly I use 3d Cad-Cam system to product good design I can build more quickly. It avoid the "damn it doesn't fit" moment in pre-production and shortens delivery times."
