"I've run the numbers on the eco-footprint of plastic wrap vs a glass lid. Surprisingly, plastic wrap is the better green choice. Glass ovens are HOT, so the embedded energy is high, but more importantly, you have to wash the glass lids and this uses hot water (and water). Depending on how you wash (sink vs dishwasher, running the tap while rinsing or using a tub), plastic wrap has 3-8 times lower footprint. In countries where they collect trash and combust for energy recovery, plastic wrap returns much of its petroleum footprint, so it does even better. I would expect silicone lids suffer from high washing energy costs as well. "
"Basically a rocker- bogie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hO8DbfE7hJw variation used on Curiosity rover. Flip-over capability is interesting, not sure it always is helpful but very cool."
"In the case study it is clear from the photos that the bottle's surface telegraphs the 3D printing texture. Ok for protos, but in production? Also, blow molding is a low pressure operation- I doubt these inserts could withstand injection molding temps and pressures. Still, very cool."

"I've developed a related system using a bimorph of plastic or plastic/metal. 10x greater motion for the same temperature rise. A couple of examples here https://genuineideas.com/ArticlesIndex/bimorph.html Yes, the eye sorts for differences, and even a single malfunctioning element is annoyingly visible. Impossible to repair. But can be used in a brise soleil or light shelf."
"The doors open on "opposite sides" to reduce cost. They doors are identical, while on a conventional car they are mirror image and require two dies. In fact, I believe the side panels and columns are also symmetric."
"Metal mailboxes will shield the wireless signal, probably have to snake out an antenna. Or simply mount a tilt sensor on the door, and trigger when opened."
