"Sounds like a solution to drain the swamp by making the vulnerable invulnerable. Designers know that ideas need to be proven out. Good hard work and evidence would be the best foundation for a final decision. Politicians can't do anything because they constantly shut the other party down. Product developers iterate until a happy solution is found."
"I wonder if this has to do with our business approach in that most freelance work I have done involves delivering a basic design service and negotiating a basic hourly rate. I think this approach is great for getting your career started, but ultimately not the right answer for designers. Karim talked a lot about percentages, and that suggests a different kind of relationship. It suggests that designers need to step up and become a sort of partner in the business, somebody who will be looking into the long-term health of the venture, and compensated as such. Maybe we can improve this whole situation by focusing on long term relationships over short term tasks. We are not just another service the executives need to hire, we are a business partner."
"This is perfectly in line with findings related to the Biophilia Effect I read about in Universal Principles of Design. This is the reason the wavy green barriers seem more appealing. The orange boundaries are an eyesore because they literally contribute to the stress of living in an urban environment. I totally agree that these new barriers are solving a real problem!Green is good for you - https://www.apa.org/monitor/apr01/greengoodGreen spaces reduce stress - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5981243/"
"Very cool, and I like how the reading bench, book shelves, and aisles are basically all the same surface. I feel sorry for those who might try walking those aisles in high heels, don't slip!"
"This is an interesting way to analyse the form of dance. My mom thought placing me in dance lessons with my sister as a kid would be a good idea. Although I was very reluctant to admit it over those childhood years, dance formed a special place in my heart. I believe that the sense of form I developed while in dance inspires my sense of form in design. Thanks for sharing!"
""The future is not about technology—it's about familiarity." -Modernist Studio. It seems brand loyalty will become more meaningful - more like brand family or tribe. Interesting stuff."
