"Something I try not to do is give my opinion on something I haven't used or tried before. Finding responses on blogs regarding a specific subject is narrow minded at best. I saw a lot of these intact and if you are shipping thousands of dollars across the country these make sense specially if you are asking the receiver to photograph the package when it's delivered. Yes, a lot of drivers abuse their loads but the ones working for reputable companies take pride in their work. Just like every industry. One step down is the "this way up" arrow stickers. One step up are tip and tell or shock watch indicators."
"My first question was why the box?Second thought was that it reminds me of this alarm clock with sounds, light and night light:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-rpXftPTXIhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ms3t1Lc1gMI"
"Another regurgitation of news/stories.I wonder how many news people or writers even think more than 1 minute before re-posting this kind of news. Right away people want to blame somebody, 911, Honda, Collapsible seats. Could this be a freak accident or user error? Fold down seats are in many SUVs and Minivans. They all have a strap to release the locking mechanism. a) The locking mechanism failed or disengaged due to having the weight of the kid on the highest point of the backrest or b) The kid pulled the straps to reach a little bit further down and then couldn't overcome the inertia. Either way, what matters now a days is the "HEADLINE" not the content."
"Sounds like an article defending IKEA. Just as the media is vilifying IKEA, your article defending it or trying to make it less of a problem is sad. 3 deaths in 3 years is not enough to sue?Anyways, yes there are hundreds of manufacturers of this kind of furniture; flat pack, cost effective and super light. IKEA made it cool and gained the mass appeal of this kind of furniture. I think most people if not all have or know of somebody with IKEA furniture.Yes, most furniture is capable of tipping but flat pack furniture has a higher probability or is easier due to it's low weight. If 3 kids died in 3 years I am glad they are making this very public. I can just imagine how many hundreds of thousands of people have IKEA and or similar furniture in their homes not anchored to the wall. Why are consumers & writers so prone to defending and attacking brands. My kids bookcase (non IKEA but equally light in weight from Target) is securely anchored to the wall with heavy duty wall anchors and L brackets from my local hardware store. Have you also seen the cheap anchors they include with the furniture??? And they still rely on people knowing how to find a stud; I can just imagine how many of those anchors are just into drywall."
"Pick up extinct? It only holds the top 3 best selling vehicle spots.Anyways, I can't associate Mercedez with pick ups...but again their design language is all over the place with all their cars."
"I have a 2 yr old boy. If we follow this reasoning, then my whole house and everything I own would have to be re-designed. At that age they don't have the concept of getting hurt badly so there is no fear. I have caught him on top of the kitchen table and trying to climb a bookcase I specifically anchored to the wall with heavy duty brackets I bought separately.A solution would be to design furniture that is unusable unless you anchor it to the wall. How you achieve that is the Design problem."
"Tend to agree. Seems like we keep making more and more "intelligent" devices to make dumber individuals. How annoying would it be to take out your phone, wake it up, open the stroller app, select the canopy function, and press the close/open button. 5 steps versus open/close manually, especially if you are next to your child (i hope). They forgot to add a sensor to detect wet diapers and a speaker so you can hear the baby crying when you are 20 feet away chatting with your friends. Why not just enjoy the moment. A self propelled stroller would be great but when you add all the other smartness it becomes gimmicky.$350 and 80K to fund raise? Something sounds way off."
