"You wrote about this very saw 3 years ago.The low price and the higher BOM count just show that it’s a shitty tool. Cheaper steel, dull grind, etc. The design language screams ”fathers day gift”. Those cogs are pure gimmicks.Even though the butterfly folding mechanism totally makes sense, it just hasnt caught even when done right. I proposed the idea to a European professional brand around 2012-2014, and they passed because ”why hasnt the market leader done it already?” A year or so later, a Silky (I think) came out with the same style handle, received design awards. I’m guessing it failed because I can’t seem to find it now (thats when I found you 3 yo article about this one)."
"Saw similar idea at Starbucks in Shanghai at least 10 years ago. Except it was a thin flat piece of paper that could be used as a carrying net. Place your cups on the stack of those on the counter top, lift 2 corners and go. "
"If it's supposed to sit in a bookshelf, why place the UI on top all the way to the back where there's going to be limited access by the shelf above it?"
"Look up "Talmeter". You have the same function except you scribe the mark. No leds, no extra moving parts, nothing that is prone to failure. Scribe loosely so you barely see the mark, or scribe hard and you can break drywall along the scribe mark."
"I wonder how hard design and marketing had to fight with production for the specific individual can rotation to form the unitary logo. Worth it though."
