"This is not a new product - I’ve had one in my emergency kit for almost ten years. It’ll work with almost any SIM, including the one that’s probably in your everyday phone (there are adapters in case your SIM is a micro or nano size). It’ll even work with no SIM at all for emergency 911 calls . It’s a great idea, with one major issue: it’s a 2G GSM phone. This was once the de facto worldwide standard, but carriers are starting to shut down their aging 2G networks; my own carrier, for example, will drop GSM service by the end of 2022."
