"A properly built fence will last for decades with small amounts of maintenance, and I realize people would view the barbs as inhumane but in practicality it is no difference to the small shock the device gives the cows.  I am all for technology use, but this application I would be concerned that a cow wearing the device for months on end will rub the hair off and create sore spots on the cow, was well as create a chocking hazard.  In Canada and northern US the temperature extremes would also be a concern.  I wish them the best of course, but wanted to write out my comments."
