"The middle photo above, with the coal hod next to the stove, and the water heater next to it, I believe is reversed. The fuel for this stove was added on the left side of the stove. I actually did a bit of research before I decided to submit this comment, just to make sure. I have and use a stove similar to the one in the photo. It doesn't change the context of your article a bit, but I just thought you'd like to know. 19th c photos often get reversed because the originals are usually on glass plates.Interesting article!My kitchen, like my house, are pretty much dated to just before WW I.
