"You could have a silicone inner bladder to the rigid outer tube so the structure of the bottle is retained, but water allowed to expand into ice. 9% Isn't a huge amount to account for but you'd have to watch in which planes the expansion happened. "
"I assume that it actually has to excavate the receiving hole first, before it can dig up and transplant the donor tree? I'd imagine it'd be quite difficult to hand or mechanically dig a hole the right shape and size with anything other than the truck."
"Watching the video, one of the immediate operational issues is how bright the indicating LEDs are / the material chosen for the diffuser. The light seems to diffuse throughout the entire casing, appearing as if both sides are at least partially illuminated. The sequential cycling of the LEDs (mimicking some modern car indicators) simply isn't defined enough to be effective.Maybe if there was a light barrier between the two halves to great greater contrast, or if greater attention was paid to the shape of the indication created it may be much more indicative of direction. i.e. 2 opposing triangular lights tapering away from the centre."
"I've just come back to the UK from a week in Rotterdam, NL. Their cycling infrastructure is absolutely magnificent, incredibly safe and very efficient indeed. The most interesting thing about the system is that all road users are almost entirely equal, with cyclists having right of way over motorists over 50% of the time.If I suggested we implement this in the UK I would be having my tyres slashed shortly before the outbreak of civil war."
"I think this statement is spot on: "It's up to them to set the price wherever they want it, and it is up to us as consumers to decide to buy their products or not. If Apple is successful, it is us who have made them so; if they become irrelevant, it will be us who have decided so."If you watched the video and gawped at the perceived profit made - and this seriously bothers you - then it's your ignorance as a consumer that's at fault."
"The tactile fine tuning possibilities are quite appealing but I can't imagine that this is a suitable form for anything other than dedicated pro workstations; and even then only really as a (dare I say it) novelty extra. The capabilities of products like Wacom's tablets, 3D Connexion's mice and even the old Logitech NuLooq are similar enough without the need for several modules. What is quite nice is the potential for multiple users being able to interact with what's shown on screen with simple dials. Where non-technical people wouldn't necessarily know how to change the opacity of an object in Photoshop, they could contribute by manipulating simple sliders and dials."
