"Hello I make vintage ball jar lamps.i have always used a 40 watt Edison bulb. Up until now they have not gotten hot. I'm assuming I lucked out on the year of ball jar I kept finding in my vintage pickin trips. This last set I found are getting hot. I'm assuming it is the thickness of the jar. What year jar should I use to avoid this? Thanks for any help or insight you can give. "
