"Yeah let's demand the Government fix the the problem! There used to be a furniture industry in California, but environmental regulation pushed it out of the state and then out of the country. So, it's all better now, right? Because the places where you can have things made reliably and inexpensively have the same standards and regulation as we have, right? Mexico and China have a different atmosphere than California. The pollutants generated on the other side of the planet run into different oceans, right?I once worked on a project, with a friend, I had agreed to waive any payments until the product was in production. The prototype work was completed and the design was sent to an overseas manufacturer. Well shortly  after the final manufacturing details were worked through, all communication stopped. After several months, it was discovered that almost identical products was available in Europe, manufactured by a company in the same region of China. In the end I didn't get payed, my friend would have lost his home if not for his family covering his losses. So let's let the Government fix the problem of unfair business practices, unequal environmental regulation and respect for property rights. Oh wait, I think it's already happening - It's called Tariffs! "
