"I clipped the tips of the same two fingers as Hostman on New Years Day of this year. Luckily for me I only lost about 1/16"-1/8" of my middle finger, and the meat lost on my index was less than that. Other than a slightly flatter middle finger, you'd never notice. For me it was just a lack of judgment on a much smaller Porter Cable bench top jointer. I was running a small block of walnut that was much too small across it and it tore out the grain and rolled the block allowing my fingers to drop down and the blade (non-helical) to nip them. It happened in a fraction of a blink of an eye.Now I am hyper aware when using jointers. I use pushers and don't run any material shorter than 1ft long. I've used a jointer like the one pictured lots of times since my accident and I have a newfound health respect for it.I don't blame anyone for my accident other than myself. I don't see how Pratt or Makeville, or the tool manufacture are at all at fault here."
