  • "Rain,   Thank you for an article that shows you took some time to understand what you're talking about. I understand the fear around guns and the desire to stop shootings, but don't appreciate the way many people are happy to propose solutions that show a lack of understanding. I think most gun owners are reasonable people, who are willing to listen to ideas, as long as they aren't being demonized and that everyone is grounded in the facts.Unfortunately, facts and civility seem to be lacking in more areas than just gun control. Thanks for what you do.- John"

I get that there are end users for these products, but why the push to use that term? Seems so impersonal, especially for a field that should be all about considering people and wanting them to connect with your work. Even "users" seems slightly better. I'd be curious to know your thoughts around this."

They are markup languages. So, if you need to communicate with programmers on a semi-regular basis, you should try out a programming course. If you're logically inclined, programming isn't rocket science, but it is a whole different thing than markup.Hope that doesn't come off snarky, just wanted to clarify.Cool to see people learning new things and am a big fan of Core77."

  • "Noodle Time - Take your thought process a few steps further. You are correct that automation will continue to eliminate jobs. However, given that the cost of technology continues to decrease, you should assume this will happen regardless of demands for minimum wages.  It is just a matter of how quickly it comes.Since we still have roughly the same number of people, but we have less jobs for them, I don't think it's wrong for them to ask that the jobs they can get pay a living wage.Furthermore, the "better yourself" argument may work for the individual, but it doesn't scale up. At a certain point, cost cutting and automation simply mean there aren't enough well paying jobs to go around. I certainly don't claim to have an answer for fixing that, but I don't think it's fair to say that if people simply "better themselves", this will fix the problem."
