  • "As far as parting lines, the hood cut line is placed very oddly here. Why would it not continue up from the back edge of the headlight and swoop up over the fender vs. a 45 degree cut that doesn't seem to match anything?"

  • "Very interesting article. I love the background provided to what has been happening with Acuras design language. Its crazy to see, not just Acura, but other automotive brands push the envelop of what makes design important and how over-styled things can be.  I hope this new "VBL" for acura helps the brand grow, but I must say, I personally still think something is missing. Simple and nimble, yet luxurious and lush is still not present like it once was. Although Acura has yet to introduce a new line of sedan or even a coupe,  I pray that they are taking cues from Hyundai and Kia. With the stinger and Genesis killing the cheap luxury market in which Acura use to claim with a golden crown, Acura has some catching up to do. As far as the beak, it was a bold (and ugly) move but it obviously will boost any design that comes after it. Simply remove the "beak" and the styling improves, as quoted by this article relating to a forum post. So I am not surprised that after release of the new models without the beak, sales improved.I think one of the main "design issues" we currently face is not in the design itself, but more of the users/ buyers interacting with the design. Its very similar to that of home buyers. Research shows women drive 70-80% of consumer sales. (driving pun totally intended) Women do consider looks as a selling point, but more importantly they see safety as a key feature, thus the sales of SUV's is on the rise. If you are sitting in a car along side a massive SUV, your first instinct is, if that hits me its going to hurt, so from that, everyone else wants a bigger vehicle. With this, sales have spiraled away from cars and its going to be a hard fight to get that back. even if the cost of fuel rises and SUV's are harder to afford, they are already in the market, and their size is impacting everything on the road.Good luck Acura, I hope you make a come back."
