  • "I think you make a good point. Maybe a decent solution without requiring a hood would look something like a desk lamp that can reach over the various burners and stay where you put it. (It could even have a light in it). Or maybe you market them to look like lights that double as ventilation units? It would pull air from where you need it down under the cooktop through its supporting hose. And usually you only need to pull air from one burner at a time right? Or you could have two the for profession home chef?"

  • "Don't want to nitpick or take anything away from the design, execution and good intention of this great device, but calling it a "shoe" is inaccurate and misleading.  From the headline I thought it was a traction device that fit on a tire. A "pilot" (a railroad term), "critter catcher", "critter plow", or "crab plow" might describe it better."

  • "Of course you could use a little origami paper dust catcher to catch those bits of steel wool. You'll need a ruler to draw straight lines to fold it and of course you'll needs some paper... And then of course you'll need some painter's tape to tape that onto the wall. For the painter's tape you'll need a handy tape dispenser. I'm sure I'm leaving something out. I'll put this project on hold until I think of everything. (sorry 'bout all this)"

  • "The hanging bed with the thick mattress and no railing makes me very nervous. But, I have to confess that I like the idea of hanging furniture. If it ever catches on, the builder could install nice looking, recessed, ultra bomber D-rings or similar. The coffee umbrella sets a new standard. I don't think you'll be able to top it, but I'll be watching."
