  • "Loved the concept. Has many potentials. Especially the physical knob and how the way this concept can potentially integrate "touch" (and stylus) into PC workflow. Potentially, again potentially, the is how hand drawing and digital workflow can truly get integrated and we get the benefit of both part whilst shed the disadvantages. That said, Microsoft really need to have software vendors on board to support the knob and radically redesign to fit the touch paradigm. Unless Adobe etc. is on board and really start support it, it remains just a really really fancy concept.Apple may rue the way Jobs offended Adobe eventually. Well, at least he successfully killed flash from his grave (in the west at least. Baidu in China surprisingly has vast amount of web widgets based on flash)."

  • "Anyone hardcore enough to ride clipless probably has more than one bikes, so the Shimano A530 is a good set up on their daily commuting bike. If you are used to lipless, tbh, any pedal surface would feel lack of traction one way or another. And you only ride flat pedal out of necessity."

  • "Actually that's not quite the case. Pros use off the shelf frame and top of the line components (the price of which are mostly still accessible to a wealth amateur). The "personalisation" part real comes in in the form of specific settings. You can adjust hight of the seat, position of the seat, then hight/length of the stern etc.. Actually in Tour de France, it is not unusual for a teammate to ride a slightly off size bike that fits the team leader exactly so that he can offer his bike to his leader when needed.Hypothetically, if her friends use exactly the same frame and components as she does, the mechanic may just find the position setting off the chart for the new bike. He may then just reset the bike to her setting and put a race number on it. That said, the same mechanic should notice the rate differential that comes with the motor and battery system."

  • "Well, just one correction regarding the article. AliExpress is not an online retailer, it is a platform that 3rd parties can sell on. It is a bit like Amazon market place.I suppose the question is what responsibility should the platform take if some one sells on their platform breaches intellectual property. From Dan Black's reply, it appears that they are quick to pull the offender off the platform. But is that enough? Should they take more responsibility in screening offerings & 3rd party sellers and make sure products with IP breach cannot go onto the platform? Technically I am not sure such level of policing is quite possible. They have awful a lot of sellers on them, to check every single product would cost significant time and resources. Shopify, a much smaller platform is not able to do this level of policing.Or when a breach happens, should they compensate damaged parties first then try to claim the damage from the offender? I suppose the least they can do is to confiscate any funds the propitiator had with them and use these funds to compensate the damaged parties. They probably should have pursued the offender with more heat. A few high profile cases would scare off future offenders. The only problem is that most of the offenders are small fish and the profile can only go that high before people forget them and carry on as usual."

  • "It wouldn't be that sad if you think of it as "driverless taxi" rather than "driverless personal car". In line with the "taxi" name, it makes sense that this vehicle is not owned by individuals. Rather it should be operated like taxis to maximise utility."

  • "This type of rain coat has existed in China for ages, albeit without the fancy quick folding mechanism and the resulting rigidity on the front. Judging from the experience of trying to fold my daughter's tent using a similar mechanism, not sure how well that would work."
