"I feel an instant kinship to anyone who knows the word "popliteal" (and can use it in a sentence)! Nice introduction to your work, Christopher. I too worked on the design and development of chairs for many years at Herman Miller. The volume of units, materials and processes may be different but the human at the center of it all is the common element. We all have our unique shapes and proportions; I for one earned the nickname "T-Rex" for my long torso and short upper arms that required armrests taller than ANYONE else and that equates to custom measurements in Christopher's world, adjustable armrests at Herman Miller. The kinematics of the work chairs I worked on (that facilitate the notion of not sitting still) bring in additional considerations/ constraints that we take into account, in terms of lumbar/ sacral support at the lower end of the spine, head support at the other end. I could go on and on...thanks for the prompt!"
