"I know the backstory of this lamp as I was in Dyson when it was being developed. It was a way to use the existing chips (with daylight tracking) in a new format that would be more suited for home use.The design followed Dyson aesthetics, which I agree can be polarising. I agree that the lighting industry is more about matching the design to the rest of your home decor, which this lamp does not do, but it has some cool features. And if you compare some designer lamps you get much less tech for the same amount of money.Regards to leds being long lasting... They are being cooled with a heatpipe, so tgey should not die anytime soon. I think the thing that will have problems first is either the power supply or the electronics inside the lamp... "
"He said that he had an idea a long time ago when seeing a train being turned at a train station, so I guess the claim about the wife was a bit fabricated. He said he wanted to make something noone else had."
"The ifixit score of current foldable phones is terrible. Its already uneconomic to repair a $1000 phone, but now with this new format it seems to be even worse.I think more phones should be 3mm thicker and easier to repair. A new phone every year is just not sustainable"
