"Reminds me a bit of the Osuza wrapping backpack. I’ve used that thing for cycling huge iMacs and even chairs around the city. https://osuza.com/collections/all/products/osuza-canvas-v2?variant=40837254119617"
"I have one of these! What the picture doesn’t get across is, this is a very large mug. If it’s full, could be as much as 50% more coffee than a regular mug. Not light."
"I think a lot about the scene from Steven Baxter’s Manifold books… the setup is kind of convoluted, but basically this planet is sort of collecting samples of hominids across various dimensions, so you have modern humans encountering Neanderthals, cro magnons, Australopithecus, etc.So there’s this bit where the protagonist is sheltering with a tribe of homo erectus, and one in particular spends his spare time chipping away at rocks to make hand axes. The curious thing, through, is that he doesn’t do anything with them, once he feels like it’s done he just tosses it aside and starts another, the implication being that he isn’t even aware of what he’s doing, it’s just an instinctive behavior — which comes in handy a few pages later when some angry predators charge the camp and he blindly grabs one and brains an attacker.I’ve got the EDC bug pretty bad, and yeah, I theres something so satisfying about accumulating tools, knowing that a pen and a knife is always handy, always looking for a better, handier one… I really do wonder if this is just my primitive chimp brain at play. "I've been using a set of these for about six months now. They work great, with one monster caveat. I put one under my seat, where, unbeknownst to me, it got caked in mud all winter. Scraping the dirt (at least some of which was iron) out of that little nut with a pin took about an hour. The other hexlox were mostly clean and easily removable. Anyway, after installing a new saddle, I put it back with some tape over it, we'll see how that goes…"
"While on the topic of 7.5 footwear, wtf? I'm six feet tall, not a little guy by any standard, and can't find shoes that fit. Anyway that CAT stuff is usually pretty worthwhile… weird branding but they seem to take it seriously. Reminds me a bit of Porsche Design although that's a somewhat different story…"
"It would be awful, because it does the opposite of what an airy, high-ceiling evokes. Even if you had a 12 foot ceiling but it’s rounded, the “collapsing” effect makes it feel like a seven foot ceiling. "
