"I think your interpretation of the two car garage with a car parked in the driveway is incorrect.  Many houses in LA are built on concrete slabs and don't have basements.  Additionally, the weather is generally good people don't worry too much about keeping their cars inside. (No scraping ice off the windows in the winter!) So Angeleno's often use their garages for storage.It wouldn't surprise me if both carports were full of junk and not a single car was parked in the garage.  "
