"You could go get a vinyl wrap since that's the new hotness in custom car coloring and then you'd have whatever color you want. I assume that has to be a cheaper option than paint. Any paint shop would likely need to strip (at the very least sand), prime and paint your car even if it's brand new. Definitely not cheap. Perhaps an auto painter can correct me if I'm wrong."
"The protection IS designed into the car. It's a bumper. It's made to come into contact (be bumped) and to protect the frame of the car, NOT the looks. That's why they are a relatively easy/common part to replace. Unfortunately, dings and paint-scraping are a way of life, especially in the city. I, too, hate these ugly bumper-savers but the same thing happened when we all had chrome bumpers. They got dented, the chrome chipped. It was also an expensive and dumb repair but people got along fine enough back then."
"The simplicity of each of these logos (both modern and past) leads me to believe it would be VERY possible to never see the originals and still come up with the modern logos. It's a process of sketching and refining, just like any other creative discipline. Anything can come about with that kind of process. I've made many logos that I had no clue looked similar to other logos out there. Usually it's because it's in some industry or corner of society that I do not frequently see."
