  • "I believe design is headed down an interesting path, this poses even more questions of what are we truly doing. Where is design going in our society? Trying to deal with the needs of society and the new waves of technology, how does this get integrated into our design structure successfully? The connection design attempts to take with the human life is questionable. We try and stay as connected as possible but when is too much, just like when he says "Perhaps we should be studying ecological design rather than environmental design. This will be more like growing a garden or raising children rather than like building products, houses, and factories." This is when design will take a turn when we change our thinking from scientific to realistic. The idea of these robots buying items online has a lot to say about this new direction of design. The scary thought of robots having "minds" or being programmed to think like humans creates an interesting turn to what our society thinks they stand for in the design world. Is this helpful or harmful? As artists and designers we have a responsibility to keep these things in mind when we are creating. We should carry the pride and duty of creating things that better our society and produce a better well-being. Not designing products that take away from what we are meant to be as humans. Yes we need to keep in mind the changing times and integration of technology, but we also need to keep a solid head on our shoulders and stand for the right thing not the popular fad of the moment."
