"Agreed. Function over form maybe.Sales to the rental and golden years market maybe.Older people like me are not conservative in our vehicle tastes so I’m not sure what their reasoning is."
"Very good.Perhaps polyurethane (gorilla glue and it’s ilk) could have been included in this test as when under pressure it froths and gasses. It doesn’t squirm, just shouts loud and hard."
"No need to be grumpy George. It was a playful article about a first and third world problem. A ‘holistic (systems) thinking’ approach to this worldwide problem of biting insects is still under development. In the meantime brute force has to suffice keep us humans bite free and healthy."
"Perhaps if the turbines are sited on a downhill section they would harness and assist the braking power of passing vehicles. Less wear and tear on brake pads.Block off the side that uphill traffic is going so as not to impede their fuel consumption."
"I like his thinking. Who amongst us hasn’t been buffeted by a passing large vehicle and felt it’s wind power. Carefully sited these devices have potential. (Voltage potential;)"
"Yea on the shelf implementation of a space saving concept. As with most if not all dual (or more) purpose furniture items there are limits to their functionality. Compromises have to be made."
"She (Micaella) has done well to explore this means of incorporating waste material into a functional device. It’s stylistic taste is obviously not for most people but it is certainly an interesting use of material to perhaps make a statement about the environment we live in. It reminds me of the ideas that swirl around inside of the mind of Creatives such as the participants in a TV show currently on here in New Zealand who are challenged weekly with new design briefs. It’s worth a watch just to see how designers work under the pressure of time and material constraints. https://www.tvnz.co.nz/shows/design-junkies"
"As I understand it a number of mid 2000s European vehicles suffered from flaking off wire insulation after a few years due to some euro rules about making plastic biodegradable so possibly products such as soy and casein were used in the plastic. True or not I’m not sure but it seems to be a reasonable explanation for this sudden failure of wiring insulation. Petrochemicals rule in this application. It’s common knowledge if you search for it. Heat exacerbated its effect."
