"Maybe the loss to be further from the heat source is compensated by the lower level it needs to get the same volume. And since a camping stove flame usually goes beyond the round bottom of a regular kettle, you don't lose that much in the corner. Is it enough to justify that? It looks nice."
"I'm not a historian, but by the shape of the "cup", I don't think it can act as a suction cup. The 1866 patent for the developing stick had a better shape that worked as a suction cup. It's probably just a softer material so you don't mark the surface."
