"Some good points made here.  I love the street light metaphor.  However, it's also a bit elitist, implying 'amateurs' shouldn't be allowed to make things that become part of the daily lifes infrastructure.  Everyone starts out as an amateur.  Steve Jobs started out with the Apple II and a total amateur (there are thousands of examples of this).  There's a bit of fear mongering happening here as well.  I agree we should be careful, but, if we're too careful, nothing, at all, will happen.I think I'd rather risk it then just, stop."
