"Sean, I think you may be focusing on a small part of what is going on here. Scientific culture has a tendency to isolate themsleves from art and design without realizing what kindred spirits they are. Science helps to understand the physical laws of the universe and art helps our understand our emotional connection to the universe. Both are trying to understand the fundamentals of the universe. For those who are artistically inclined, art and design is an amazing way for persons who don't normally think scientifically to be able relate to science and inspire them. Likewise, one of the main purposes of design is to problem solve... hopefully in the most beautiful way possible... and problem solving is what engineers do! There seems a lot happening here in division that will expand the purview of the scientists and engineers for the benefit of everyone."
