  • "I should have mentioned in the video, but if you use chartpak markers, they won't bleed with ballpoint pen, but you might be high as a kite by the end from the fumes."

  • "I love my domino and all things Festool. I too use it for gluing up large projects. Jory's been at it for much longer than I have and it's good to see someone else had a similar idea about edge joining boards. I too have saved a TON of time in my setups and in building complex pieces without having to worry about custom cutting tenons. I do wish i could justify having the big one, but I don't do enough just yet to warrant having one."

  • "Thanks for the comments, everyone, even the anonymous ones! This is a learning process and we appreciate all the feedback. At Flint, we designed everything featured in he Kickstarter package. The calipers are custom made for us with our aesthetic design though the mechanical components are sourced from a trusted partner. We went to the experts to help get those developed - people who live breathe and sleep calipers all day. It's a component of the kit we wanted to include that didn't make sense to develop entirely on our own, thought we’d love to do that in the future and this is a step in that process. This is something explicitly stated in the kickstarter video and FAQ sections, and is something we chose not to shy away from. The ruler has been entirely developed by us over the last 12 months. We’ve featured photos of the process on the kickstarter page. The case as well has been entirely developed by us. Photos of the process to show iterations of those designs, as well as the calipers are featured on the kickstarter page as well.. This has been also 12 month journey for us. All together they form the kit, which is the reason for kickstarter project. We wanted to create a better compact case for carrying calipers, a cleaner, more legible ruler, and a reliable caliper. That being said, if the caliper offering keeps you up at night, how about a ruler or tee shirt? We think they’re pretty cool."

  • "I think people are just cheap  -- maybe cheap is too strong a word but I think there's a lack of understanding of what goes into making quality furniture. I've made custom pieces for clients that cost thousands of dollars and will last a lifetime and those clients love their furniture.  However, there's always a look of shock after the initial design review and budget is then discussed. IKEA and other low cost furniture stores and manufacturers that deliver on looks but lack quality have set an expectation for pricing that is hard to compete with when the person buying the furniture doesn't care for something that will last a lifetime.I like the concept of the kickstarter and he simplicity of the pieces but I think that while the prices do reflect, in my opinion based on the description of materials, the cost of materials, that most people won't get why t costs as much as it does because of the simple design  "
