  • "Yes you are absolutely right. Our goal was simply to investigate if it is possible to make a functioning bicycle frame with this new method of metal printing (which is in development and optimization of print quality is ongoing). We have succeed in that goal. Whether it is an efficient or practical method for producing bicycles is another discussion and one for future research given it has now been proven possible."

  • "Haha you obviously have strong opinions which I am glad you have shared! This project was primarily a research project into 3D printing with welding specifically and how that process could be applied. This type of metal printing is currently being developed but is already much faster and cheaper than laser sintering (the production method for project you included). It has its advantages and its disadvantages like all 3D printing methods. For us, it was also important that it did not look like a regular bicycle frame. Some people such as yourself choose to only view the project in the context of bicycle design which is very close minded. You should have another read through the article and not just look at the pictures. "
