  • "Nevermind. In looking again it looks like there are two parts and the top is glued on to a one piece watertight base."

  • "Curious if this is sonically welded or glued? It looks like the top and bottom are separate from the sides and then permanently attached to make it watertight.Also..I love this!"

  • "OK. According to the Tested.com interview MS is using N trig digitizers which I have read are not as good as Apple or Wacom. It sounds like MS bought N trig.If they want to sell something to creatives they need to improve their digitizers in my opinion."

  • "I think it's awesome in many respects that have been covered here and in the various articles that I have read. Love the look and the knob, etc.One thing that I am concerned about is that the line quality is jittery according to an illustrator's review on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28PW-L06WVE There is supposed to be a software fix and he was not able to demo adobe products to maybe it will be addressed within certain software, but I want to know that the sketching feels like a pencil before I would consider this. When the original Microsoft Surface book came out last winter I demoed the surface 3 and the surfacebook vs. the ipad pro. The ipad pro had the best line quality for sketching. It really felt low latency enough and had just the right software tricks that someone like me could get great line work quality out of it.I have read MS switched to cheaper digitizers in those models so I am curious what they use in this latest item. Does anyone know?I have seen Spencer Nugent (has a sketching series on youtube) review the surface products in the past and he can get great linework out of them somehow. I think his linework is better in the first place and he has the ability to get used to the delay. For a mortal like me it seems like the ipad pro is my best bet. If MS can match the line quality in future models I am happy to switch my portable and add a Surface Studio as well."

  • "Very cool to see a lot of my questions answered here.  RE: my question about the warranty...the 1 year warranty sounds good. It also sounds like we could send it back after the warranty is up for paid repairs if needed?RE: mistakes...your straight forward approach to showing what it would take to cause a nick is very reassuring. Feeling very good about my pre- order! • "I gotta take a chance on this. I don't currently have room for a large CNC nor do I want to mess with software. That was the same approach I took for 3d printing and I could not be happier with my Afinia. My questions are:After watching tons of the videos I think I now understand how it self corrects for you while you use it, but how is it possibly fast enough at pulling the bit out in a case where you move it to far too fast or make a mistake....as it claims to in one of the videos? Is there a limit to what it can catch? Are all those official videos where parts are fitting together "right off the tool" or is there sometimes some sanding needed? I did see mallet use. I guess as other have asked I want to get an idea of how precise this tool is. Can you quantify the precision vs. some existing CNC router tables that are somewhat similar in terms of price range?Any kind of warranty? Will these things be repairable by you? It's pretty complicated and I could see wanting to repair it. My afore mentioned 3D printer has really good service and that's one of the things I love about it.Obligatory referrel link: https://preorder.shapertools.com/ref/81M6HG51Q"
