  • "The middle photo above, with the coal hod next to the stove, and the water heater next to it, I believe is reversed.  The fuel for this stove was added on the left side of the stove.  I actually did a bit of research before I decided to submit this comment, just to make sure.  I have and use a stove similar to the one in the photo.  It doesn't change the context of your article a bit, but I just thought you'd like to know. 19th c photos often get reversed because the originals are usually on glass plates.Interesting article!My kitchen, like my house, are pretty much dated to just before WW I.  I'm used to it, but I'm sure most people would hate it!"
