  • "Hi Olivier, Thanks! I used the most cheapest Laser Projectors I could find haha, I bought them on AliExpress.com. I experimented with the supplied voltage and the "pattern caps". The more small points, the better, it seemed during my research."

  • "Hi Guohua, I actually scanned my foot during the project with a karate kick :) The result was very promising. The setup is very flexible, so you can think of any body part as object to be scanned. The hand is very interesting because it is so very hard to hold in a steady position; a foot is easy to scan with regular 3D scanners like Artec EVA."

  • "Hi Andy, Thanks for your comment! In order to give the project structure, I needed to determine some requirements. Since I developed the scanner for the case of a 3D Printed Brace as first application, this tolerance is sufficient. When medical tools or surgical products are your goal, more precision might be better (although most anthropometric data is +/- 1 mm for hand data). Increasing the amount of cameras, the quality of the cameras and the projection immediately results in better output; but it increases the price of course."

  • "Haha! Apart from complimenting America on its mascot of course, they say:- It's not primary for countering terrorism. It is also very problematic if someone playing with a drone is obstructing a trauma helicopter or causing problems near an airport. Since it is hard to find the pilot, they want to be able to physically counter the drone. This is one of the solutions they are looking at.- The birds are taught that the drone is prey; after catching it, they take it naturally to a safe place and protect the prey. The claws are protected by scales and the trainers don't worry about the propellers. Nevertheless, they are investigating ways to increase the protection of the claws.A little Dutch might come in handy sometimes huh? ;)"
